Black+Decker Helps You Stay Connected #HolidayGiftGuide

December 23, 2016 by Michelle 233 Comments

.Disclosure: I received some Black+Decker samples to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

When I first had the opportunity to review this drill, I was pleased.  It would be a great tool for my husband to fix things around the house. What I had not anticipated was the light weight and size.  My husband already has a number of cordless drill sets, however many of the batteries were on their last legs.  I was used to the larger heavier weight involved in those sets and was not prepared for how lightweight this one was.

Black+Decker

It also comes with great new features that really set it apart from every other cordless drill on the market.  A new Bluetooth enabled app allows users to connect each battery by Bluetooth to their cellphones. This app allows for interesting features like tracking the battery, locking the battery from use and even a battery meter that allows you to see how much charge you have. It also includes a USB2.0 connection that can be used to charge your electronic devices.

We found out how useful the charging option was a couple of weeks ago. Our power went out for 13 hours during the first storm of the year. Since we seldom lose our power, we really were not prepared for it. Our devices were not fully charged up.  This feature allowed us to connect our phones up to the battery to charge. Then we could  have access to a phone line in an emergency. To do simple things like check to see if certain areas were out of power so we could go eat out.

One other thing I had not expected was how strong it was and how long the battery lasted.  My husband often has to charge his tools during jobs so that he would have enough charge to finish it.  This drill stayed charged through multiple jobs and still had charge left over. It also proved quite good at holding a charge when it is not being used.  The drill was sitting for over a week when we looked at the battery meter to find that it still had 95% of the charge.  If my husband let his other tools sit for a week, he would need to recharge them before he could even start to use them.

If you are looking for a great last minute gift for your husband, or looking for something small and versatile to pick up for your own use, this is definitely a choice I would recommend.

There are multiple repairs around my house I could use this for. With any home that is older: new projects arise constantly. Thanks for the chance to win.
