Fred Pinsocket Loves Bananas
This story is based on the I Love Bananas song from Peter Apel’s Dinosaur on My Head! music CD, and features, of course, the adorable Spaceman Fred Pinsocket.
Fred Pinsocket is a little spaceman who just can’t get enough of his favorite food. He loves bananas so much that he wrote a song about them! Children and their grown-ups can sing along with Fred as he flies across the galaxy, plays piano and drums, and gathers carts full of bananas from the local fruit market here on earth. Fred’s adventure comes to life in sturdy, colorful, board book format. Playful illustrations activate children’s imaginations and are designed to leave room for exploration and conversation between parents and children.
About The Author
Peter Apel is a singer, songwriter, author, illustrator and dad, and has produced two collections of original songs for children. (I’ve Got a Dinosaur on my Head! and Fred’s Back! )
Both have been endorsed by KID’S FIRST – The Coalition for Quality Children’s Media. Peter can usually be found throughout the Silicon Valley performing his catchy, original songs in school programs, libraries, shopping malls and special events.
It’s no secret that my kids are book worms, and while this book is generally aimed at younger children, my daughter, who’s in Kindergarten, thoroughly enjoyed this book. She was drawn to the well illustrated and colorful pages, and loved the adorable character and the catchy rhyme which, apparently, cannot be sung just once. This book would also be great for children on the autism spectrum as they can easily grasp and turn the pages, without becoming frustrated.
The board book is really durable and has rounded corners, it’s able to survive the rigors of a raucous play date. It even has a special UV coating so parents have a fighting chance of cleaning finger prints and gooey messes off the pages (within reason) with a damp cloth.
