Disclosure: I received some samples from Libman to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.
Brooms are one of the things, that I often forget to upgrade. Until I pick up a new one and realize how much easier it was to get the house clean. Over time as brooms wear down it takes longer and longer to get the house as clean as when they are new. And when you like a nice clean house that extra effort can add a lot to your workload.
The Libman Company, sent me a selection of their products to try out. They’re a 121-year old U.S. manufacturer of household and high-power cleaning products, that has recently expanded into Canada.
The Wonder Mop is my favorite mop. It’s a light weight mop, and removes more water, allowing your floors to dry much faster. You can machine wash it up to 50 times, now that’s a lot of mopping before you need to replace the mop head.
No Knees Floor Scrub
The No-Knees Floor Scrubber has tufts of polymer bristles attached to a resin block that will scrub away the dirt. I love that the scrubber pivots, which makes it easier to clean areas that have hard to reach corners. Its handle is made of steel for durability, and does not bend or flex. As with most Libman cleaning tools, it has a hole at the end for easy storage. This floor scrubber works great on floor tiles, and can also be used on hardwoods and other surfaces throughout the home.
Angle Broom With Dustpan
The Angle broom is sturdy, that gets the job done well. The broom is light weight and the fibers are precisely cut to reach under cabinets as well as tight corners. The flagged fibers pick up dirt, dust, and debris.
Six Tips to Help Get Cottages Clean and Summer-Ready
Clean Fireplace Doors With Ashes
To clean the smoky, burnt on residue from the glass doors on your fireplace or wood burning stove, dip a damp paper towel in ashes and use them to clean the glass. You can also use the ashes from the fireplace to clean the glass window on your gas grill.
Easily Clean Indoor Walls and Ceiling Fans
No need to get on a ladder to clean dust and cobwebs from walls and ceiling fans. Simply use a cloth mop such as the Libman Wonder® Mop to clean walls without scratching. The mop has a built-in wringer to control the amount of wetness you want. The mop head is detachable and can be washed in the washing machine up to 50 times.
For scratches on your wood furniture, you can take the meat of a walnut or pecan and rub it into the scratch. The oils in the nut will cover the scratch. Also, to remove tar from vinyl floors, rub some peanut butter on the spot. The peanut butter will dissolve the tar.
Sweep Before you Mop
It’s likely the closed cottage has accumulated a lot of dust bunnies and debris. Mops are great for getting up germs and dirt, but they don’t necessarily sweep away large chunks of grime or dust. Use a broom that is cut at an angle to reach under cabinets and into tight corners. The Libman Extra Large Precision Angle® Broom with Dustpan includes a dust pan that attaches to the broom handle for convenience.
Clean Decks Naturally
For an inexpensive alternative to expensive deck cleaning products, try mixing equal parts warm water with white vinegar and baking soda and apply to the deck. The vinegar will kill off bacteria and funguses that have developed while baking soda deodorizes and refreshes. You will need to scrub the deck thoroughly with a long-handled brush (try the Libman No-Knees Floor Scrub) after applying the mixture and letting it sit for several minutes.
Get out the big Guns When You Mop
Give your floor and deck a thorough cleaning with a traditional yarn style mop like the Libman Jumbo Cotton Wet Mop. Looped ends and a tail band provide streak-free cleaning and greater durability while the sturdy handle is made of steel. The product works well wringing out by hand or with a wringer bucket such as the Libman 4-gallon Clean & Rinse Bucket with Wringer.
Libman products can be found at most Canadian Tire & Home Depot stores across Canada.
