My oldest daughter had a slow start in her interest in reading, but over the years she has picked it up quite substantially. Both of my other kids have been heavy readers since a very young age. We have always tried to promote reading as being good for them and they clearly have developed a strong love for books. What is always interesting is watching what books they choose.

My House is Alive!
What’s that sound? A question my youngest daughter often asks me. My House Is Alive! takes readers on a tour of the basic inner workings of a house. It explains the scientific reason for the knocks, thumps, bangs, as well as booms we hear. For example: that knocking sound in the walls? It can be caused by the expansion and contraction of metal vents that carry air to heat your home. Creaking can happen when wood dries out, and buzzing can come from vibrating plates inside fluorescent lights.
