Increase Productivity by de-cluttering your Office
The office and office culture has changed. Open office spaces shared workspaces between companies and virtual offices. Offices that offer temporary work and meeting spaces for small-to-medium businesses are increasing in number across cities everywhere. With collaborative offices growing in popularity, companies are tasked with clearing out office space. All in order to create a cleaner, open-concept work environment for employees.
JUSTJUNK knows the value of a clean space so they have come up with a list of ways to “declutter” your office. All in order to promote productivity and ensure all your workers are happy.
Go paperless!
This may sound obvious but it works. With new, impressive digital technologies the necessity for paper products in an office lessens each day. Imagine all the potential needs for paper in a traditional office setting and look for the many digital options that exist:Memos: use email or online apps to send out messages. This will save you time and money and it can help to make sure everyone received it.
Contracts
Now you can go paperless even when you need signatures. Believe it or not, digital apps exist that can allow clients to sign important documents digitally with the highest levels of security available at very cost-effective rates.
Business Plans
Not only does shared documentation exist for working collaboratively on projects, it’s free. Save the multitudes of paper on revisions with digital documents. use email or online apps to send out messages. This will save you time and money and it can help to make sure everyone received it.
Create Shared Spaces Within the Office.
The best work is done when collaborative minds are working together. Ensuring that spaces exist for personal work as well as collaborative work , while eliminating the restrictions of assigned offices can make for more creative and productive development on projects and can help limit the amount of clutter that can populate an office space.
Be Creative With Storage
Use your storage space inventively. Shelving is important. No office is going to be completely devoid of potential clutter, but creating spaces specifically for storage with decluttering in mind will go a long way. Shelves that are wider and waist-high will become a platform for unneeded knick-knacks that can cause clutter, for example.
Make a Decluttering Schedule
Let’s face it, offices can accumulate “junk”. Unused calendars from last year and packages of file folders that got pushed to the back of a drawer are just some examples. This type of clutter can build up in no time. Offices should schedule one day every six months to go through and get rid of what they don’t need. This doesn’t mean just throwing it away. Donation services exist that you can get in touch with to donate items to those who may need them.
Keep What you Need Close
In one of the above points, we mentioned using your storage space creatively. Remember, to keep what you need day to day close by but find a new home for everything else.. Make sure everyone knows these homes for the collective office equipment. In the event that you need these items, make sure you only grab what you need at the time to limit clutter. Unless you’re playing an office game, there’s no need for a free-for-all for staplers, pens, notepads or other items.
This is not always about getting rid of excess things like bulky office equipment. Decluttering is a preventative measure that improves work flow and increases productivity. Things like reducing office clutter, and by moving much of your traditional paperwork to digital platforms (that already exist). Little steps like this help your team can easily increase their productivity in no time at all!
