Biting is one of the most common dog’s functions. Given they are not as proficient with their paws; they use jaws much more frequently. It is a skill that develops from an early age through playing with their siblings.
In most cases, biting will be used playfully. However, as our own kids, teeth are growing during this time. So biting may come as a way of relieving that itchiness. While completely natural, this behavior shouldn’t be encouraged. In fact, it should be limited. This is especially true as young pups start getting teeth and are unaware of their strength. This will cause all sorts of problems and ultimately, they will even start hurting us.
Basics of Puppy Training
There are various dog training that can be performed. Most of them are for fun: fetching, giving paw, etc. Make sure you offer your puppy a delicious treat from a Dog Treat Manufacturer as a reward. As this will help you succeed in your puppy training. It may seem fun but it isn’t that important for us. Nevertheless, there is certain stuff that a puppy has to learn no matter what.
Biting training is one of the most important things in that regard. You simply cannot have a dog running around and biting people. Furthermore, such behavior will cause problems when dealing with other animals.
Keep in mind that no matter what type of training you’re doing; it needs to be done with lots of love. While it is ok to be harsh at some times (you are an authority figure in the end), there are certain boundaries that cannot be crossed. You cannot allow yourself to hit a dog or punish it in any way as this can lead to trauma.
Another thing worth mentioning is that biting training needs to be done as soon as the puppy shows signs of aggressiveness. Like everything else, you need to be quick and take action immediately.
Awesome Biting Training Tips That Will Help You Out
- There are lots of ways you can teach your pet not to bite. Here are some of them: First and foremost, you need to show a dog that you’re in pain. Whenever it bites you, it’s necessary to act a bit. You have to show that you’re in pain by being loud. Dogs can easily interpret that something is wrong. Unfortunately, this won’t always lead to a solution as a puppy may continue its behavior.
- While you should constantly strive to prevent biting, it is ok to buy some toys that will help you out. In the end, a dog may feel itchiness and this will help. Still, you need to try and reduce biting whenever possible.
- Find a way of distracting a dog. When it starts biting, avert its attention to something else. This way it will slowly reduce biting in general. Again, it is a limited solution as your best bet is for a puppy to stop biting altogether as it understands that it is negative behavior.
- Use a command. Voice commands, handclaps, and signs can be extremely powerful. Puppies are not as responsive as older dogs but will likely understand your commands if you repeat them often enough.
- During this period, it is best not to go outside so much. It is much better to teach a puppy in a secluded environment. Biting can be a problem for other people and they might not be as understanding as you are. The same goes for dogs. By staying at home, you can learn these things quickly and efficiently.
- Always remember to be patient. Dogs need time to figure out certain stuff. There is no point in losing nerves as it won’t quicken anything. Just take your time and go.

I’m training my neighbour’s dog not to bark at me every time I’m outdoors. She can’t do a thing with him but he minds me much better and knows I will not come to pet him if he’s barking at me, though he might let out a little woof just so I’ll know he’s there.
